Aug 2019 in Fort Greene Park the morning of my 16-year anniversary of living in NYC.
ME: THE OVERVIEW
Maya Angelou said, "People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
At my day job, handling a freelance project, volunteering, or exploring the city, I am always looking to make new connections and serve those I encounter. I pour myself completely and passionately into every interaction.
MY DAY JOB
At Kin + Carta, an international digital innovation firm, I am a Product Consultant working across CPG, financial services and healthcare verticals, enabling digital transformation for our clients. Relying heavily on the iterative test and learn agile approach, my colleagues and I uncover the underlying challenge and create solutions allowing businesses to realize their goals. We build products to improve their existing customer experience and to acquire the growth they desire.
In my previous work with the New York Road Runners, as a Senior Product Manager, I led a small team in creating and improving our websites and our mobile apps. I loved that my work kept New Yorkers and athletes around running, while also focusing on charitable giving.
SIDE PROJECTS
In my free time, I take on a variety of freelance work… I build and maintain Squarespace websites for individuals and small companies. Over the years, I've garnered a handful of octogenarian and nonagenarian clients—and friends—to whom I regularly give computer lessons.
VOLUNTEERING
I’m an environmentalist through and through. I collect food scraps for composting, recycle textile scraps, donate and shop second hand as much as I can. As a card-carrying Citizen Pruner, I am licensed to tend and prune low hanging street trees throughout the city. I am currently looking for a new urban garden as I had to give up my Chelsea bike lane tree pit garden after many years of cultivating it.
In addition to my social and environmental interests, I taught computer classes to adults through New York Cares for eight years. These days, I am always up for participating in hackathons that aim at improving the quality of life for my fellow New Yorkers. I share my time because I’m committed to giving back, but like most, I definitely find that I get back more than I give.
"DOWN" TIME
When I’m not doing all the above, I am usually planning a local adventure. I am a product of art school so visiting galleries, museums and cultural institutions brings me immense pleasure. Some say I don't know how to relax. It's actually the opposite, activity is my release. Keeping busy keeps me happy.
FINALLY
It should come at no surprise, I want to experience as much in life as I possibly can. My friends tell me that I have an insatiable and infectious zest for life, and they’re right. What I know for sure is that I wake up each day with an eager curiosity and a desire to have new experiences.
